Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder than can be a very debilitating condition.
Fortunately, with behavioral therapy
(Exposure Response Prevention) and certain medications, OCD can
be managed allowing an individual to lead a happy and productive life.

As with most mental health conditions, a cure is not yet present and the condition tends to wax and wain
throughout a person's life depending on the level of stress in the individual's life.  A person with OCD can
be extremely productive on the job for many years and then due to life's circumstances, have a relapse of
symptoms.  This setback can be demoralizing especially when a person with OCD can go from being
extremely productive and competent to sometimes feeling very helpless and even hopeless.

I have a great deal of experience with this condition and would be happy to show you ways to cope with
OCD and how it can affect your work life and even in other settings.   As always, I recommend a
behavioral
specialist in OCD for exposure-response prevention in addition to a psycho-pharmacologist who
specializes in OCD (however, an individual doesn't necessarily have to use both methods of treatment to
make progress).
