Assertiveness / Confrontation
One of the major factors contributing to stress and burnout in a job is not feeling that
your needs are being heard or met. This could be anything from the employee not
getting the raise or promotion s/he feels s/he deserves to the supervisor who is
afraid to confront an employee who's performance is deficient. Many people avoid
confrontation because they find it so unpleasant or they are truly afraid that their
assertiveness will turn into aggressiveness and ultimately cost them their job.
Feeling ineffective at asserting oneself can lead to sarcasm, poor attendance, and
ultimately depression.
Stuffing one's feelings at work or at home because you've been taught that you have
to "not make waves" is not truly a long term solution. There are practical and
effective ways to get your point across without developing a reputation as a
"troublemaker" or "winer".
I will teach you how to do it correctly!
